Some people are adventurous and outgoing; so adventurous in fact that they need to find someone to share the adventures with. More than sharing their adventures, they want to educate people on the places that they have been to. This is the usual last frontier that traveling people face. By offering their services as travel guides, they are not only able to repeatedly travel to places that they have fallen in love to but they can also share their experiences and adventures to other people.

People also gravitate to travel guide occupations to meet people. Meeting all sorts of people is always an exhilarating experience, especially foreigners with an eye for curiosity. These people never tire of looking at beauty and take time to learn the history of the places and monuments that they encounter in their travels. In fact, travel guide professionals must have a good deal of knowledge in history to be able to answer inquiries. They must also be ready to do animations, improvisations and representations in topics or subjects that are very hard to understand for the foreigners.

Aside from this, it is also a sort of nationalistic pride that fires the travel guide professionals to their work. They do their best to promote the tourism and beauty of their country. In doing so, they feel contented that they are able to do service to their country in their own little way as travel guide professionals.

Common Tasks Of Travel Guide Professionals

Travel guide professionals plan and organize expeditions, tours and cruises that are usually long distance travels. They usually book the tour or cruise details such as accommodation, transportation, equipment and even availability of medical aid. The arrangement usually takes place after reaching a specific required quota in the number of customers.

If necessary, the travel guide can assist with the visa, passport and health certificate needs of his tour participants. These permits are both important and required. Somethimes travel guides form partnerships with agencies for securing such important documents.

Throughout the tour, the travel guide professional must attend to the needs of his tour participants, while also giving advice and tips on the best sightseeing or shopping areas available. Some guides have pre-formed partnerships with shopping establishments or sightseeing areas.

Along they way the guide will discuss the significance of the area, why they have traveled there, and what part in history took place there. The professional guide will have researched the best possible travel routes and the destination sites. Also, while on tour, he will evaluate the services received and report the results to the organizers of the tour.

Tours are usually not free from problems. The travel guide professional must be ready to resolve any problem in accommodation, service or itineraries, and to verify the amounts or fees as well as quality of the equipment to be used prior to the expedition and tour. In case of mishaps or accidents during the tour the guide will often need to administer first aid to injured patrons and be able to get medical aid or ambulance for the seriously hurt, immediately.

The travel guide professional must also be adept in various skills. He must be knowledgeable of existing hunting or fishing laws enforced in the area and capable of explaining it to his tour participants. When required, he must be ready to instruct his tour participants in climbing and mountaineering techniques, wilderness survival and be able to demonstrate the use of equipment used in fishing, hunting and climbing.

Guides need to be hands-on problem solvers as they often deal with real-time situations that need fast decision-making. Since the occupation requires one to work continuously outside, the travel guide professional must be street smart and knowledgeable in current issues and trends. He should also be creative in presenting the various tour stops to his participants. He must try different strategies to avoid letting his participants to be bored with the tour.

A travel guide professional must also be sociable and willing to interact with all sorts of people, of various race and nationalities. Primarily, the occupation of travel guide professionals aims to share interests and experiences to other people and so great people skills are required.

Although it is not necessary, travel guides will have an advantage if they are knowledgeable in one or two foreign languages. The English language, although being somewhat universal is not very helpful in times of explaining the significance of a particular event in history to a foreigner with a different tongue. Speaking to foreigners in their native language will make them at ease and comfortable throughout the trip.

Travel guide professionals must also have thorough knowledge in geography and also in public safety and security. Knowledge in these areas will make them more effective in ensuring the safety of tour participants. Knowledge in geography will also arm him with better decisions especially in times of weather change.

Families traveling with kids will find Amboseli national park a safari destination matched to no other, with less tourist traffic, breathtaking open spaces, easy access from Nairobi, the list is endless.

The park described by writers as ‘ a home for the Gods’ covers 150sq mile south of Nairobi and lies just at the foot of Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain at 5,895m. The park is currently on the cross roads with the government and the local communities both claiming ownership, with Kilimanjaro’s snow capped peaks dominating every aspect of this Park and form a stunning backdrop to the wildlife found here – elephant, lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo, cheetah and a host of plains game and its breathtaking beauty, the trek is well worth the effort!

The area is home to the Masai people, tall, colorful, proud, nomadic warriors famous for their legendary prowess in battle and single handed acts of bravery in fights with wild animals. Perhaps, more than any other people they have learned to live in complete harmony with the wildlife which surrounds them, this knowledge they proudly shared to visitors and well worth the time. Kids will be allowed to get really close and explore the simple but fascinating homestades, adults will also enjoy the cultural aspect of the lifestyle.

Amboseli’s Oltukai lodge is one of the best spots in the world where children can watch elephants and study their fascinating wilderness behavior, This is where you will find the highest concentration of elephants than anywhere else in Africa, they can be seen spread well over the savannah woodland, just remember to ask your driver guide about how these clever mammals mourn and pay last respect to a dead member or how they cross their tiny young on a fast flowing river.

Quietly tucked away from view, The Kibo family Villa crouches undisturbed, an elegant three-bedroom log cabin built in stone and gum tree, in complete harmony with its surroundings. Own entrance, a lounge, a fully fitted kitchen and a barbecue area. Secluded by a copse of indigenous Acacia Tortilis trees and five acres of garden, Kibo Villa is peace and privacy made perfect. Two or three small families traveling together love the self-catering option, there is detailed attention to security issues and a resident nurse is available on call.

Kids will love the lavish private family buffet breakfast or dinner set out specially as a family package in wonderful secluded setting amongst the tortillas trees only a stones throw away from a family of resident elephants also having a feast of their own.

Selenkay conservation area lies east of Amboseli well off the beaten track, and never visited by tourist till now. Birdlife is prolific, especially birds of prey. The 6 tents Porini luxury camp caters for 12 guest at a time, the camp is in the lines of a traditional luxury family camp, comfortable family tent rooms, ensuite bathrooms, flush toilets, solar powered electric lighting and an amazing chef completes a safari family haven!

At Amboseli locally trained masai naturalist or walking guides will get Kids out in the mornings in a small group of say 8 kids for an adventurous nature exploration. This walking trips to the nearby sites in most cases will include lessons on the masai hunting techniques, catching and naming butterflies, treasure hunts, tree planting, hide and seek in animal camouflaged clothing and an interesting Q and A session answering every question they’ ve ever had on wildlife and tribesmen.

The young rangers club is available to 10 – 15 year olds, could be a temporally or annual membership with letters, post cards and birthday cards sent to members all over the world from deep down wild Africa! For more information visit african adventure tours

If you are traveling on vacation in Arizona (visiting the Grand Canyon and Sedona), be sure to spend a day at the Out of Africa Wildlife Park, just south of the Flagstaff area. The park is a great way for you to see the most beautiful tigers, lions, and giraffes in a totally native environment – where they have access to to freely roam large areas of this spectacular wildlife preserve. As part of the admission, you can ride a jeep-type vehicle and go on a 45-minute “Serengeti Safari” with expert park guides narrating the tour. There is also an hour-long tram or trolley tour of the park where you will have access to unobstructed photo platforms that provide excellent photo opportunities of lions, tigers, wolves, hyena and other predators that roam in their large natural habitats.

What I love about the preserve is the overall cleanliness of the park and the meticulous and humane care that is provided to the animals – and that is all due to the passionate (and compassionate) owners, Dean & Prayeri Harrison. Park visitors can come up and touch the snakes! The park has two primary tours, which are a wildlife photographer’s dream come true:

The Wildlife Preserve is an educational hour-long tram or trolley tour, which circles the large-habitat homes of lions, tigers, wolves, hyena, bears, mountain lions and other predators. Unobstructed photo decks are the perfect staging for an unforgettable photograph of the park’s majestic animals. Highlighting the best of Arizona tourism – the VIP tour also includes lunch and hands-on animal encounters.

The Picasso Museum in Barcelona has one of the most extensive collections of artworks by the 20th century Spanish artist Pablo Picasso. This is one of the most popular and most visited museums in Barcelona. The museum is housed in five adjoining medieval palaces in Barcelona’s Barri Gotic.

The original idea for the museum came from Picasso’s friend, Jamie Sabartés. Picasso had given Sabartés great many paintings, drawings and prints during the course of their friendship. Originally Sabartés had planned to set up a museum based on his collection in Málaga, Picasso’s birthplace. It was Picasso himself who suggested that Barcelona would be more appropriate, given his long standing connections with the city.

The collection doesn’t immediately strike you as being a very extensive one. Among the early work, there are a couple of curious paintings of the beach at Barceloneta as it was 100 years ago, complete with donkeys and none of the landmarks that can be seen there today – no Hotel Arts, no Forum 2004…

The Barcelona Picasso Museum doesn’t contain his most important work – Guernica, for example is in Madrid’s Reina Sofía Art Centre and you’ve got the Paris collections and a new Picasso museum in Malaga.

After Sabartés’s death in 1968, Picasso himself donated a large number of items to the museum, including approximately 1000 items of his early work which his family had been keeping for him ever since the time he first settled in France. This included school books, academic pieces and paintings from Picasso’s Blue Period. There are now more than 3,500 works making up the permanent collection of the museum.

The Museu Picasso reveals Picasso’s relationship with the city of Barcelona, a relationship that was shaped in his youth and adolescence, and continued up until his death.

The Museum has undergone successive renovations and expansions, and it’s currently starting to develop new programmes, activities and services to become a reference place, envisaged to spreading knowledge and to fostering the visitor’s participation and critical views. The Museum wishes to be a dialogue space, exploring new approaches to Picasso’s work and influence and offering new perspectives on the Museum Collection. We invite you to watch the audiovisual Welcome of the Museum director.

Make sure to book your apartment (apartamentos barcelona) well in advance as most of the accommodation (location appartement barcelona) in this city is quite expensive and hard to come by.

Boring but safe?

This description of Prenzl’berg has often been used to describe the area due to its increasingly high number of toddlers. In 2004, the percentage of children under three inhabiting the area rose by 30% to a staggering 5,000 plus. However, this is not to say that the only attraction to the area is its friendly family atmosphere; although this is undoubtfully a plus, the area has more to offer than its selection of parks, family homes and well desired schools.

The district is the trendiest in Berlin and boasts a good selection of laid-back cafés, designer shops, art galleries and fashionable restaurants. Kastanienallee and Eberswalderstraße are definite musts for good quality and reasonably priced nosh. Although since the late 90´s the most interesting nightlife has moved to the east of the district, Prenzl’berg’s centre is highly underestimated and has some great clubs and bar-cafés. The area also boasts some of the best accommodation in the city; the apartments (apartamentos Berlin) are spacious and offer a great alternative if you’re staying for longer than a week. The hotels (hoteles en Berlin) are amongst some of the most quaint and quirky in the city and are close enough to the centre to be able to visit all of the main attractions but far enough out not to be bothered by the hustle and bustle of the central Mitte streets.

As with the rest of the city, it’s hard to walk through the streets of Prenzl’berg without experiencing a taste of Berlin’s history. To the east of the area is the Ernst-Thälmann-Park where the Zeiss-Grosspanetarium is situated; a GDR interior space which once housed Soviet cosmonauts and still to this day, runs programmes and observations on those little green men in the sky. There are also a great number of socialist monuments in this area which is a rarity in the city. There is also a cluster of museums and original art galleries in this are that depict the development of the area from a run down, war destroyed area to Berlin’s most bohemian and up-and-coming areas in the nineties.

So, if you’re visiting Berlin this autumn, don’t forget to stray a little beyond the borders of Berlin Mitte and have a wander around Prenzl´berg.

No Disneyland Vacation can be complete without a Disneyland tour – especially if it is your first trip there. There are currently four different tours to choose from, and Disneyland park admission is necessary for all tours. It is highly recommended that you make a reservation for the tours that you wish to go on.

Disneyland’s Discover the Magic Tour is probably the most popular of the four. This tour will have you and your family working with Disneyland characters to find clues and hunt for treasure. You can literally live out a Disneyland fantasy with your family and loveable characters, outsmarting the Disney bad guys! This tour includes lunch and an exclusive gift that can only be obtained on this tour.

The Discover the Magic Tour lasts for about three hours. There is a two ticket minimum, and the cost is approx $49 each of the first two tickets, with additional tickets costing about $39. The tour is appropriate for the 5 – 9 year old age group, and adults. The tour is not really suitable for kids under the age of five, or for kids who need strollers.

The VIP Tour lasts for about four hours, and costs about $75 per hour for a party of up to ten people. You must book this tour well in advance, or there will be an additional twenty dollar fee. The tour is not recommended for kids, but is designed more for people who have a true love and interest in Disney and Disneyland history.

The Welcome to Disneyland Tour is absolutely perfect for first timers. There are many benefits to this tour, including priority seating at one of the stage shows, tips and suggestions for getting the most out of your Disneyland vacation, a brief history of the park, priority seating at one of the many restaurants, instruction in using FastPass, two bonus FastPass tickets, and much more. This tour lasts about two and a half hours, and costs around $25 per person.

A Walk in Walt’s Footsteps focuses on the vision of Walt Whitman, and is not really advisable for small kids. Filled with history and trivia about the park, this tour lasts for more than three hours, and costs around $49 per person. The main feature of this tour is your peek at the exclusive Club 33.

Again, you should definitely consider making one of these tours part of your Disneyland experience – especially if this will be your first trip to Disneyland.
You may see things and learn things that you would not see or learn without the benefit of the tour!

First, decide on your destination. Where do you want to go? Do not allow fear or lack of preparation to limit you to places near to your home. Moreover, do you want to explore a specific location or do you want to travel from one place to the other? Deciding where and how you want to travel will help you narrow down the choices of excursions for you to take.

After you have decided on where you want to go, decide on what you want to do during your trip. Those who are interested in the antique art of caves and those who are into underwater photography, you will find an excursion that will definitely fit your interests. There are certain excursions that are seasonal, depending on the destination, so it’s best to do some research when planning your trip.

Having decided on your itinerary, take the time to decide on how you wish to go through your excursion. You can have it fast-paced, going from one place to another or the other way around. Also decide on whether you are traveling alone, with family (kids), or other adults. Let your travel coordinator know about your case so he and she can give you excursions that will meet the needs and interest of everyone.

Decide if you want to travel with a group. If you decide to go with a group, consider how large you would prefer the group to be and age range of the members of group. Some excursions are specifically for the women, the families or the elder ones.

Passover celebrates an ancient history. The first two nights of the eight days are celebrated with sumptuous meals called Seders. The Passover Seder is a special Jewish ritual which takes place the first evening of Passover in Israel, and the first and second evenings of Passover in the Jewish Diaspora. Incorporating the meal of holidays, Seder relives control and the following exodus of the children of ancient Israel of Egypt by the words of Haggadah, the drinking of four wine cups, the consumption of the matzot, and the consumption of and the reference to foods symbolic systems placed on the dish of Seder of Passover.

Each Jewish Vacation is a lesson in life. Why? It teaches the important lesson of the Passover. Freedom. It is the type of freedom to which the Jewish people have the power to live and to grow. It is not freedom from the body as much as an independence of the mind. And this freedom is achieved at Passover-time to light your way to whatever you want. A person with true freedom does not know any limit, and can accomplish whatever they wish. They are free to alter themselves and change the world!

Once you decide on your preferred excursion, it is time to do your research and book you trip. Consult the Internet, the publications of voyage and the periodicals. You might also want to check with your friends or other networks. Do not be afraid to ask for references. It is your money and your holidays.

The birth of the Kerala State, as you see it today took place in the year 1956. With the reorganization of the states that took place, the princely states were all combined and brought together under one head. Thus, the merger of the states of Travancore, Cochin and Malabar marked the beginning of the Kerala State.

Glimpses of the royal past and their creations are still important landmarks and major tourist attraction that go to make Kerala tourism a soulful experience. The towering Padmanabha Swamy temple in the Kerala state capital of Thiruvananthapuram, the palace adjoining it (“Kudra Malika”) all stand testimony to the bravery and courage of the kings who made great contributions to the rich cultural heritage of Kerala State.

Here I would like to make special mention of the word “Kottaram”. At many destinations of your Kerala tour you would come across the word “Kottaram”. The word “Kottaram” in Malayalam (the official language of Kerala state) means a palace. The palaces in Kerala are very different from those found in North India. The palaces in the state are known for their exquisite woodwork, the intricate carvings and the attention to detail that went into constructing it.

Holidays can be truly a wonderful experience, it is a good break from the daily pressures and a getaway to a beautiful land that offers you a rejuvenating experience. However, when you do travel to a new land it is very important that you are equipped with the right information. You also must make all your bookings (as regards travel and stay) in advance to avoid any kind of disappointment. So we thought at the outset it would be best to provide you a few basic facts about the scenic land:

• Location: Kerala state is located in southern India.

India is a country located in the Asian continent. For international or foreign tourists to visit, passport and visa formalities need to be completed as per the laid down rules and regulations. The visa needs to be obtained from the Government of India. You do not require a separate visa to travel within the country to the different states. It is important that you comply with the law of the country and possess all the required documents like your passport and visa. For passport and visa formalities, contact the concerned Government of India site.

• State capital: Thiruvananthapuram or Trivandrum is the capital of Kerala state

• Official language: Malayalam (although people here do speak English and Hindi and so you would not have any difficulty in getting around).

• Number of districts: 14

- Thiruvananthapuram or Trivandrum (also the capital of Kerala State)

- Kollam (Quilon)

- Kottayam

- Idukki

- Ernakulam

- Thrissur (Trichur)

- Palakkad(Palghat)

- Malappuram

- Wayanad

- Kozhikode (Calicut)

- Kannur (Cannanore)

- Kasargod

Kerala state has the very best of modern facilities and so you can be assured of a convenient and comfortable stay. Access to ATMs, telephones and the internet is readily available. All the main shops and hotels accept major credit cards, so you are assured of absolute convenience.

Cotton clothes would be the most comfortable wear considering the weather conditions. It is advisable to carry your pair of sunglasses, sunscreen lotion, hats and a mosquito repellant. Do take care with all your personal belongings. For assistance, it would be best to take help from the Kerala Police rather than follow instructions from strangers.

What’s the best way to go? Whenever I think I’ve nailed down the answer to this, something invariably changes my thinking. In the past I would always have said “travel on your own” is the best way to go – without exception.

This allows one the freedom to be spontaneous and wander where you want, for as long as you want. Also gets you away from large groups of people and having to adhere to a time table, and choices for dining and accommodations made by someone else.

On the other hand, not knowing ones way around can lead to wasted time and money. You may be around the corner from some place you’d love to visit, but miss it completely because you were totally unaware of it.

With a group tour, assuming it’s a reputable company, one should expect to receive value in many forms, from expert guides and efficient travel planning, to great deals on rates.

Often in the past group tours got the reputation of being cattle car trips. But today, the best ones allow much flexibility to do some things on your own, while benefiting from the economies of the group. You can do as much of the work as you want as in the case of walking tours, or be totally pampered in coaches.

Getting of the beaten path is always the best way to see what’s real anyplace, but at the same time, it would be unfortunate to miss the landmarks and special sights the some locations are famous for. Plus it’s nice to hear some background info as you go from knowledgeable guides, as it can make the visit much more interesting and meaningful.

One more interesting factor in deciding which way to go seems to be that the older I get, the more I’m inclined to let others do more of the work. And while it was fun to knock around as a young adult seeing much of the world on foot, and in Spartan accommodations, I find I’m much more into something upscale.

It’s actually not such a bad thing to have a pro take care of all the details, where all I have to do is show up.
